Takedown Policy
This online exhibition forms part of a pilot study for Christie Chan’s PhD research at the University of Edinburgh. It is used for research purposes only and is not intended for commercial use.
Every effort has been made to ensure that content published in this online exhibition does not infringe any person’s rights or breach applicable UK laws.
However, if you believe that content hosted on this platform may be illegal, please contact Christie Chan, the creator of the exhibition, via email. Your complaint will be reviewed, and appropriate action will be taken.
Making a Complaint
Please include the following information in the body of your email:
- A detailed description of the infringement, so the specific content can be readily identified.
- Your relationship to the content (e.g. ‘I am the author/creator/copyright owner of the material’).
- The grounds for your complaint. Examples include:
- Unauthorised use through reproduction and/or public availability of the material.
- Breach of moral rights (e.g. right of paternity, right of integrity, or the right not to have your work subjected to derogatory treatment).
- Other concerns, such as defamation, breach of confidence, or data protection violations.
Upon Receipt of Your Complaint
The creator of the exhibition will:
- Make an initial assessment of the validity of your complaint.
- For all but clearly spurious complaints, temporarily remove access to the item in question.
- Acknowledge receipt of your complaint via email.
- Seek to verify your identity and authority as the complainant.
- Refer the complaint to the University’s Legal Advisor for comment and guidance.
Potential Outcomes
- Once your complaint has been verified and the Legal Advisor has confirmed it is ostensibly legitimate, the content will be permanently removed from public access.
- If the Legal Advisor advises that the content does not breach any law, the item will be reinstated.
